You Are a Golfing Machine!

As your spikes catch traction on your favorite golf course, you remind yourself that you are a golfing machine. And you’re so right! But is that machine running smoothly and on all cylinders?

As with any machine, optimal performance hinges on keeping all the parts maintained and finely tuned. And that’s where our medical approach to golf fitness excels.

The Medical Model of Golf Fitness

A properly designed golf-fitness program is vital for reducing the potential for golf-related injuries, while simultaneously improving late-game stamina, power development for longer drives, and accuracy and consistency in your short game.

Pursuing a rehabilitative-based program ensures that you work with knowledgeable medical professionals who are familiar with your sport—and the proper biomechanics and potential injuries associated with it.

Alpine is committed to synthesizing the best and latest medical- and sport-performance advances to dramatically impact your performance. Our two physical therapists with special interests in golf performance are Brent Dodge and Samantha Schoeneman. Together they hold advanced certifications in orthopedics, sports, and Pilates Instruction.

Brent is a Titleist Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute. Says Dodge:  “By combining a medical approach to golf performance you ensure that a golfer’s physical capabilities are matched to his or her swing efficiency. Through accurate clinical and 2-D video analysis of a golfer’s physical limitations and potential swing faults, you create new opportunities for performance optimization by way of injury management, accuracy, and power.”

TPI Certified

Both Brent and Samantha are also pursuing advanced training in Pain Reflex Release Technique™, a gentle yet speedy and effective way to reduce pain, fatigue, stress, and the effects of injuries. This technology is yielding profound results with our athletes, particularly our clients who golf. Samantha applies her background as a certified Pilates Instructor in programs for golfers.

Components of The Golf Clinic

All of our golf clients undergo a thorough evaluation by a licensed physical therapist. Our assessment focuses on the mechanics of your swing and a detailed medical golf screen to determine the potential for injury-induced elements in your form.

We also perform specific measures of the following areas

• Pain We quickly treat pain that impedes optimal performance.
• Mobility We thoroughly assess mobility of the ankles, wrists, spine, shoulder girdles, and hips.
• Flexibility We assess and address key muscle groups.
• Balance Dynamic balance is evaluated, as it forms the basis for improved golf performance.
• Strength Core and limb strength are evaluated and linked with potential swing faults.

"Last year my health took a downward turn, as did my golf game. With the expert help of Brent and Sam at Alpine Physical Therapy, my pain went away, and my golf game revived. I went from driving 180 to now over 235 routinely. Not bad for a 60 somethin’ year old plumber! You haven’t golfed your best until you’ve worked with Brent and Sam."
