As part of our comittment to wellness, you will be guided in the fitness component, basic nutrition, and goal tracking of an overall wellness and weight management program.
At the outset of care, you will undergo a comprehensive physical therapy evaluation, along with skinfold body fat analysis and circumferential measurements, skinfold measurements, baseline heart rate and blood pressures, a step test for cardiovascular fitness, and BMI calculations. Measurements will be taken free of charge at either our north or south location every 6-8 weeks until goals are met.
You will also be provided resource materials on stress management, nutrition, and ways to exercise safely and to progress properly to meet your individual needs and goals. The fitness guidance may include exercises you can to do at home or at a gym.
Take a moment now and get a first-hand view of the components our wellness program from the developer of our program, Leah Versteegen, DPT.
The goal we set for you will be to transition to an independent gym exercise program that is realistic for your lifestyle and meets your wellness needs. If you like, we’ll provide you with a free 30 day membership to the Peak Health and Wellness Center.
Over the course of treatment, you’ll receive basic nutrition counseling on keeping a food journal and using available online programs to enter food and get a somewhat accurate calorie count. You’ll also receive basic information on a balanced diet, timing of meals, and hydration guidelines. If you need more than basic instruction, you may require referral to a licensed nutritionist. We also provide guidance on stress management, including breathing and relaxation techniques.
We provide on-site weigh-ins, heart rate and blood pressure monitoring, skinfold measurements, a step test for cardiovascular fitness, and BMI calculation at either our south or north locations. In addition, you have access to the Alpine Physical Therapy website, complete with patient resources on a variety of injuries and diagnoses, podcasts on resources available at Alpine, and a link to our blog at HealthandFitnesss101.com, which is full of valuable wellness information.
Additional resources are available through the Peak Health and Wellness Center, including pool access, certified personal trainers, group fitness classes, and consultation with a licensed nutritionist.
Our goal is to guide you in developing a feasible and effective plan to promote your overall health and wellness. At the termination of your formal therapy sessions, you will be comfortable in your chosen exercise setting and will have the resources needed to help you successfully attain an active lifestyle.
