Simple changes in the way people do their tasks can make a major impact on reduced work injuries. Our ergonomic experts offer cost-effective remedies when and where needed.
With our location, equipment, and expertise, we are able to perform functional tests to ensure that your workers are safe to do their jobs. In the event an employee is injured, we can tailor specific tests to mimic the job duties of the injured worker. In so doing, we can quickly get to you the information you need to make hiring decisions or needed changes within your work flow and work areas. Our approach facilitates open communication and swift return to work of injured employees.
Injury-prevention classes with high-quality multimedia presentations are an important step in getting your workforce aware of prevention strategies. Interactive classes, such as T’ ai Chi, Stretching, and Pilates give immediate steps that workers can use to help themselves.
We routinely perform functional job analyses, which define the “critical demands” portion of the job description. It outlines the physical requirements necessary to perform the key tasks of the job. An evaluation of the critical demands will define the tasks being done, how often they are being done, and the weights and forces the employee must generate when completing the tasks.
The pre-work screen (PWS), also called a post-offer screen, gives employers a way to make sure the people they’ve hired are physically “matched” for the intended job category. The PWS tests job applicants in a comprehensive, nondiscriminating manner to determine if they can safely perform the "critical demands" of a particular job. This allows workers to be effectively matched to a specific job, thereby reducing the risk of worksite injuries. An accurate and comprehensive PWS is based on a validated functional job analysis. In so doing the specific critical demands of the job are designed into a battery of tests. When implementing a PWS, it must be used consistently for all new hires to avoid discrimination. In addition, any time changes are made to the job
(which either increase or decrease the physical demands)
the job description and the PWS must be updated to reflect those changes.
Creating open lines of communication between supervisors and your workforce facilitates early reporting of injuries. When problems are caught early, people can often stay at work with modifications when and where needed. In the event your employee requires time away from work, we will join hands with you to assist your employee back to work sooner, rather than later. To ensure early return to work, we work directly with all parties involved, including the doctor, the insurer, the employer, the supervisor, and the employee.
Work hardening is a highly structured goal-oriented, individualized treatment program designed to return a person to work. Our program is interdisciplinary in nature and uses real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral, and vocational functions. Our program addresses the issues of productivity, safety, physical tolerances, and worker behaviors. Our physical plant is ideal for instituting this type of program, particularly due to the equipment and space afforded at the Peak Health & Wellness Center.
