Covid-19 Policy at Alpine Physical Therapy
Important Update for Our Montana Medicaid Patients
Our participation with Montana Medicaid will be paused beginning May 1, 2026.
We want you to know that this decision was very difficult for our clinic. We value our Medicaid patients and believe that physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are essential healthcare services that help people recover from injuries, maintain independence, return to work, and improve quality of life.
Unfortunately, due to significant administrative burdens, increasing operational costs, and reimbursement rates that do not adequately cover the cost of providing care, we are no longer able to sustainably participate in Montana Medicaid at this time.
Because of these challenges, our clinic must pause participation with Medicaid until changes are made that allow clinics like ours to reasonably and sustainably provide care to Medicaid patients.
What Is Being Done
Healthcare providers across Montana have been working with state leaders to address these issues.
During the most recent legislative session, Montana legislators voted in support of changes to improve the system, but those changes were vetoed by the Governor. As a result, many of the challenges affecting access to care remain in place today.
Providers plan to return to the Montana Legislature in 2027 to again ask lawmakers to address these issues so that clinics can resume participation and patients can maintain access to care.
Your Voice Matters
State leaders need to hear directly from patients and families who depend on these services.
If access to therapy services is important to you, we encourage you to share your experience and let state leaders know that physical, occupational, and speech therapy services are critical healthcare needs.

Finding Therapy Services
Many hospital-based health systems in Montana are directly contracted with Medicaid and may still provide physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy services.
We truly hope that with engagement from patients, providers, and policymakers, Montana can create a system that allows clinics like ours to resume Medicaid participation and ensure access to care for those who need it most.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your care.
